It’s a Dry Night for Outdoor Dining in New York City

NEW YORK CITY – Skies are clearing, August starts off with bright sunshine, and next week could feature tropical rains.

What You Need To Know

  • The heat wave is over in the city
  • A warm weekend is ahead
  • Keep an eye on potential tropical impacts next week

Skies will continue to clear Friday night, which will lead to a sunny and hot Saturday. Highs Saturday will be in the upper 80s.

Sunday’s weather, on the other hand, looks cloudy with a few spotty showers. Highs, as a result, will be a touch cooler, in the low-to-mid 80s.

So, Saturday is your best bet for a pool or beach day, if that’s on your weekend agenda.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

Isaias has gained strength and is now a hurricane. The storm is approaching The Bahamas as a Category 1 storm. This weekend, the storm will brush the Florida coastline and then turn north toward the Carolinas.

Early next week, the storm will track up the East Coast. New York City could get rain and wind from this system, but it is not expected to be a major storm like Sandy.

A tropical storm or hurricane watch could be issued for the five boroughs as early as Saturday night.
